The tropical low dissipated in late November as unfavorable wind pattern and wind shear in the northen Arabian Sea disrupted the tropical low as expected. A new tropical storm has formed over SE Arabian Sea. It will track NW during the next 3 days. When the storm reaches northern parts of the Arabian Sea, it is expected to weaken due to high wind shear and lower sea surface temperature. Yet, impacts over Arabian Sea countries can’t be ruled as of now. Stay tuned for more updates.

Death toll reaches 14. Main reason remains overflowing wadis and drowning caes. Although rain was extreme by all standards over SE Oman, NE Oman and Muscat got less rain. It is a shame that Oman’s geography and urban planning are part of the reason of such death cases. Parts of Muscat and other Oman cities are just under wadis where rainwater can fall in and make roads into rivers! Weather-wise, the behavior of this tropical storm was not typical. To affect Oman only. More updated details about the low pressure spinning over the Arabia Sea. It is expected to drift slowly to the west-northwest. Rainfall: Rainfall exceeded 40mm over Masirah island. Other areas received between 5 – 30 mm of rain. With rain continuing for a few more days, several areas of coastal Oman might reach 50mm of rain. Impact over Oman mainly: Eastern coasts of Oman and possibly northeastern coast of Yemen are expected to receive some showers and over several periods between Sunday and Thursday. Periods of clouds between July 24 and 28 is possible over parts of the UAE and Oman as cloud from the Arabian Sea drift to eastern Arabia. Some thundershowers might reach parts of Oman . A low-level monsoon low pressure moves to northwest India and northern Arabian Sea. Other areas remain hot and dry with some clouds at some times while mountains of Saudi Arabia and Yemen continue receiving seasonal afternoon thundershowers.
