A cold front to bring scattered thundershowers and cooler air accross the Arabian Gulf countries. Chance of showers in the UAE on Monday. This is the first rain of the cool season.   The weather has really cooled down over Kuwait and parts of Saudi Arabia with daytime temperatures in mid 20s. Death toll reaches 14. Main reason remains overflowing wadis and drowning caes. Although rain was extreme by all standards over SE Oman, NE Oman and Muscat got less rain. It is a shame that Oman’s geography and urban planning are part of the reason of such death cases. While foggy conditions could continue until Thursday morning, winds could pick up speed later on Thursday, and becoming breezy to windy by Friday. Northwesterly winds will blow at fresh speeds on Friday, putting an end to foggy nights over the last few days. While winds could reach 40 Km/hr over coastal cities, the Arabian Gulf Sea will become very rough due to  higher wind speeds offshore. Heavy thunderstorms have hit the mountainous regions of UAE and Oman in addition to interior UAE. With the upper low still in place over SW Asia, confluent and rising air currents have developed into a chain of thunderstorms. The storms have generated dusty winds in the surrounding area, and also lowered temperature to 22c in Fujairah due to rain-cooled air. As much as 21mm of rain fell in Fujairah, with probably higher amounts in Hetta which received more thunderstorms.
