A dust storm on Mar 3 over KSA. Similar conditions could repeat on Mar 17-18.

After hitting mid 30s in all of the gulf countries, cooler air is set to make a comeback. While short, it will bring a respite from the heat. Almost all major cities in the gulf recorded temperatures around 35 degrees. Cooler northwesterly winds will start blowing on Saturday over northern KSA and reach the gulf cities by Sunday. A  period of above average temperatures will beging on Monday Mar 12, and last for around 5 days. It will bring summer-like temperatures of early 30s accross a wide area of the Arabian Peninsulua including the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar. Even the mediterrenean countries will experience some heat on Sunday Mar 11th. The heat will start in the Mediterranean and progress eastward to KSA and Kuwait by Monday Mar 12th, before extending to other countries. It will start cooling again between Thursday and Saturday Mar 15-17.

Windy-day

Fierce winds hit the east coast of the UAE, as wind gusts reached 87 Km/hr in Fujairah on Mar 10th. strong winds to hit Kuwait, Iraq, and parts of KSA late on Monday and early Tuesday with gusts up to 70 Km/hr with dusty and sandy conditions. Rough Arabian Gulf.

See a video of satellite images of the dust and sandstorms that affected KSA and the UAE. The video shows special modified infrared images taken by EUMETSAT, and can detect clouds (dark red and orange) and sand/dust (pink). The video shows the evolution of a low pressure and frontogenesis on Feb 25. As the surface low deepened, winds accelerated towards the centre of the low.
