Thunderstorms during the afternoon hours over interior UAE on Oct 8th, 2011.

As the last few days brought interesting afternoon thundershowers to interior and mountainous UAE along with the eastern coast, the same is expected to continue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday along the Hajar mountains of the UAE and Oman. The weak upper low over SW Asia, although the first this season, is expected to reduce the impact of the upper high that usually suppresses convective thunderstorms. A shower

During the period from Thursday Oct 6th to Saturday Oct 8th, there is small probability of some isolated thundershowers along the Hajar mountainous and over the UAE eastern coast along the Gulf of Oman. There will also be a small decrease in temperatures in the coming days across most areas of the UAE. Due to slight weakening of the subtropical high and slight cooling at lower levels, surface winds converging along the mountains should face less resistence to develop into isolated brief shower clouds. But October is typically a very dry month.

A spectacular summer thunderstorm is raging across Southern UAE, southwest of Abu Dhabi. The last few days have seen recurring summer thunderstorms over western and southern UAE, while the rest of the UAE experiences hot and sunny weather.

Summer afternoon thunderstorms have been raging accross Oman mountains, UAE mountains and interior areas over the last few days. Brief period of heavy rain, hail, high winds, and falling temperatures accompany such localized thunderstorms. Dust storms usually form nearby the storms due to high winds kicking up dust. Tuesday could bring even more summer afternoon showers and thunderstorms to parts of Al Ain and western interior areas, and surrounding places.
