A sunny start for Winter

It seems January will bring “some” ups and downs to the weather of the Arabian Peninsula, after a very quiet and repititve December. The Mediterranean countires will also witness some weather changes. Some showers, and some in unusual places A few isolated thundershowers could affect parts of Saudi Arabia between late Saturday Jan 7 and early Monday Jan 9. Rain showers over Bahrain and Mid Arabian Gulf Nov 26.

Some showers will form again on Nov 26-27 over mid and eastern Gulf. A weak cold front delivered thundershowers from Nov 21-24 to Kuwait, Arabian Gulf coasts of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, parts of Qatar, islands of the UAE, and northern Oman. Nov 26 – 27: Cloudy weather will continue with isolated showers over parts of mid and eastern Arabian Gulf. Those showers might reach coastlines of Bahrain, Qatar, and western UAE. Death toll reaches 14. Main reason remains overflowing wadis and drowning caes. Although rain was extreme by all standards over SE Oman, NE Oman and Muscat got less rain. It is a shame that Oman’s geography and urban planning are part of the reason of such death cases. Parts of Muscat and other Oman cities are just under wadis where rainwater can fall in and make roads into rivers! Weather-wise, the behavior of this tropical storm was not typical. A shower

During the period from Thursday Oct 6th to Saturday Oct 8th, there is small probability of some isolated thundershowers along the Hajar mountainous and over the UAE eastern coast along the Gulf of Oman. There will also be a small decrease in temperatures in the coming days across most areas of the UAE. Due to slight weakening of the subtropical high and slight cooling at lower levels, surface winds converging along the mountains should face less resistence to develop into isolated brief shower clouds. But October is typically a very dry month.
