Day-time temperatures are expected to decrease during this weekend across the UAE. While remaining generally warm, it will be noticably cooler. Highest temperatures might hover around 34-36c, a decrease of 3-4 degrees from the current daily maximum temperatures of 38-40c. Night-time weather should also improve. By the start of next week, a slight increase in temperatures is expected.

A low pressure weather system centered over southeastern Europe near Turkey brought rain and thunderstorms to eastern Mediterranean (mainly Lebanon, Palestine, and coastal Syria) with some rain and thunderstorms extending inland to Jordan and other parts of Syria. During the early hours of Oct 8th, 2010, a belt of thunderstorms were moving east toward Lebanon and Syria (see below image) The low pressure system could bring good amount of rain (around 25 mm) to coastal Lebanon and Syria. Mediterranean countries (mainly Jordan, Syria, and Palestine) received some unusual early-season rainfall on Wednesday Sep 22, 2010. This marks the first westerly wave of weather disturbances that affect the region from autumn to spring. While the rain was not widespread, there were scaterred thunderstorms that brought heavy bursts of rain. According to Mohammed Al-Shaker (from Jordanweather.Jo), the thunderstorms caused high winds that uprooted trees and resulted in sandstorms that affected Amman airport. September starts in a few days, so does meteorological autumn! Meteorological autumn starts in September and lasts till November in the northern hemisphere. These are the months where temperatures start to decline. However, astronomical autumn starts on Sep 22/23, when length of day becomes equal to night time. However, meteorological autumn starts before astronomical autumn since days are already getting shorter with less solar energy day by day.
