Colder air will start impacting the Arabian Peninsulua starting late Friday Jan 20th, as a surface high pressure trails behind an upper low and its associated cold front over southwest Asia. Three weather parameters to highlight: Colder Air, Winds, and Rain. Synoptic weather: After delivering rain to parts of the Mediterranean and northten Egypt, A mid-level low pressure is expected to move eastward towards southwestern Asian countries of Iran and afghanistan. The tropical low dissipated in late November as unfavorable wind pattern and wind shear in the northen Arabian Sea disrupted the tropical low as expected. A new tropical storm has formed over SE Arabian Sea. It will track NW during the next 3 days. When the storm reaches northern parts of the Arabian Sea, it is expected to weaken due to high wind shear and lower sea surface temperature. Yet, impacts over Arabian Sea countries can’t be ruled as of now. Stay tuned for more updates.

Nov 11 Update: The tropical low disspitated offshore with some rain over eastern Oman. Most of the heavy rain remained offshore. Below image shows accumulated rainfall over last 7 day. The cold front over the Arabian Gulf and its associated upper-air trough helped keep the tropical low offshore. A lucky escape for SE Oman. ___ A fresh tropical system has formed in central Arabian Sea. it has reached tropical storm status.
