During the next 2-3 weeks, the atmosphere is gearing up for sharper changes in temperatures. There will be periods of increasing temperatures followed by periodic cooling. This is very much normal for March, but this pattern is setting up early this year.
For the Arabian Peninsulia, the period from 9t to 10th Feb will see some warming, before slight cooling arriving by Feb 10th and 11th. More warming will begin around Feb 15, which could last to Feb 19, before considerable cooler air arrives after Feb 19th and 20th with possibility of rain over some gulf countries. The cool air arriving by 20th February could be the last cooler air of its kind this winter. March brings warmer weather.
These temperature changes could be accompanies by dusty conditions as gusty winds blow during days with temperature changes.

I doubt there will be any significant rain this year :’(
Shahzeb its too early to state anything as yet….some rain formation is showing up in the weather models for the end of feburary check this out http://www.wxmaps.org/pix/prec9.html
@meteo .. do think this low formation will actually bring about some respite from the dry spell??
I agree with @Ady. Weather models are forecasting rain to arrive by the end of this month but at same time its too early to say anything. Lets hope, InshaAllah.
One thing I noticed is that times have been changing for certain season, or a ‘type of climate’ to come. In Saudi Arabia, you can see that winter lasted longer than it used to and we got some rain at the very end of winter which was a little late. And now, there is this pattern coming up warly this March.. I have a feeling that May would be Wet this year.. (in KSA). That is because during may, the storms from the equator may rise up early to somalia and nothern sudan (including ASIR region) and might have these storm more western than normal).. good theory.. hehe.. Lets see.. Inshallah it will rain in my city Yanbu..:p
@1234
Yes in some years it is really thundry in ksa during march to early April. It has to do with some short term cycles of convective activity that pass our region at different times each year.
@Ady @Ozair
Those predictions of late month showers are not certain. The weather models are not in agreement and they still show largely a dry pattern.
There will be chanced of rain over northern Saudi Arabia because of the typical Europe low pressure. This shows it: http://131.54.120.150/index.cfm?section=dspImage&image=21OWS_EUROPE_FITL_PROG-STANDARD_12021812.GIF
Why didn’t we get the low pressure which looked like a cyclone on dec 2010? We even got a strong low pressure on 2009 dec. But on 2011 dec, we didn’t get any..
but I guess this time, we will have the t storms from the south now
@meteo… there is a chance of rain along the west coast in KSA on 25 February.. Affected cities are al wajh, Tabuk, Makkah, Jeddah, Yanbu,Rabigh, and Ha’il.. The Northern SAudi Arabia will also be effected early by the low pressure of Europe..
@Meteo.. whats up? There are ALOT of convection occuring in my city Yanbu KSA (near Madinah) and in the visible satellite, it shows cumulonimbus development at the north of the city! The forecast says clear.. wats up with the weather? It is also very hot compared to yesterday with wind calm..
@1234,
the atmosphere is very unstable in the Midetterannean as a powerful low makes its way on Friday. Those clouds may have been a response to the upward motion, but it seems no rain made its way.
Too early to tell, but it seems it will be dry.
