Here is a recap of the considerable winds that affected the UAE at different times between January 28th and February 6th, 2011: A powerful thunderstorm hit Northern UAE on January 28th, 2011. The thunderstorm, in addition to rain, resulted in damaging winds and caused a sandstorm in Dubai and Sharjah and surrounding areas. Highest wind gust of 111 Km/hr. Gusty and dusty southeasterly winds hit the UAE, especially southern areas, between Jan 31 and Feb 2. Highest wind gusts in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain reached 68 Km/hr and 66 Km/hr.
