An upper low pressure with cold upper air affected the UAE and enhanced thundershowers formation between December 25 and 27, 2010 in the Arabian Gulf, parts of the UAE, and Gulf of Oman including some areas of Oman. Heavy thundershowers affected northern UAE during the morning hours of Monday Dec 27th. A strong winter storm hit Eastern Mediterranean countries between December 10th and 14th, 2010. Wet weather also affected Iraq, Iran, as well as the Arabian Peninsula. Brief summary of factors behind this wet outlook: An area of deep low pressure in the middle and lower atmosphere formed over the eastern Mediterranean region along with cold air coming from northern Europe.
