This is a significant weather event in the UAE
An upper low with cool air aloft, coupled with moisture coming from the equator via the Red Sea, is going to unleash a widespread area of rain and thunderstorms over most of the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman region.
Highest accumulation of rain are likely to be in Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE (in addition to the open water of the two Gulf areas). Impact on the UAE starts today (Friday) and continues to late Sunday. Rainfall is likely to get heavy at sometimes on Saturday and Sunday, with a few thunder activities even though most of the rain is predicted to be of a continuous and persistent nature.
Rainfall amount for the UAE is generally expected to be between 25 and 50mm across the northern coasts, with significantly higher amounts possible (upto 70mm, especially near the mountains where even higher amounts are possible)

We can see in the first panel how rainfall is predicted to be between 50 and 100mm across several parts of the UAE !! Will it really reach that much?!
