Riding the temperature roller coaster

After the rain showers few days back, the weather really cooled down in the UAE and the Gulf countries. Maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in Sharjah airport is 21c and 9c on Dec 20th. Al Ain recorded a low of 8c on Dec 20th. In Kuwait, the minimum temperature recorded for Dec 19th and 20th is an astonishing 0c with high temperatures not exceeding 19c.

But ironically enough, temperatures will go from below average to above average within days. Sharjah is forecasted to record highs of 27c starting from Monday. Kuwait will jumb to highs of 24c later this week with low temperatures jumbing to around 11c.  In fact, the whole region is going to warm significanlty due to a high pressure building over the region with high 500mb heights (see chart below). The warmer weather will hopefully leave by Friday Dec 26th. If that’s not enough, a low pressure system will affect NW Saudi Arabia and the middeteranian countries on Monday & Tuesday with rain and cool to cold weather.

Enjoy the roller coaster and hopefully you don’t get sick.
