Well, the days of 40′s C and scorching sunshine are finally over (hopefully forever, but that’s a far-fetched dream) and we are only 2 weeks away from the meteorological start of winter. I’m sure that everyone in the UAE have noticed the milder weather over the last few days. However, days are still warm, maybe pleasantly warm. It will just keep improving. One surprising piece of weather news is the sudden morning showers in Fujairah, Khorfakan, and other areas in the East coast of the UAE. As I have posted earlier, the incredible Autumn rainstorm brought extreme rainfall to Saudi Arabia. Rainfall from NASA TRMM website indicates rainfall around 100m over a large area of Saudi Arabia (mainly from Southern to Northern Saudi Arabia). I feel that rainfall amounts probably exceeded 100m in some areas (see photos below). Rain also lashed Kuwait. The rain was so heavy that it flooded many areas. Major cities affected include Makkah, Madina, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Abha, Jizan, and Jedda. The rainstorm forced many people to evacuate and caused several accidents.
