While England and some parts of USA are experiencing storms and cold temperature more typical of winter, it seems that parts of the Arabian Peninsula are also going to get a taste of winter during the next 7 days.
I will be in a couple of days explaining the effect of all these on the weather: Jet stream, jet streak, 500mb heights, blocking high. Needless to say, the forecasts are calling for rainfall amounts that could reach 150 or 200 mm in some areas. See the below 15-day forecast. Look at the 1st panel which shows accumulated rainfall during the next 7 days. A lot of rain is forecasted to fall over a big area mainly over cnetral Arabian Peninsula. And the 3rd panel shows expected rainfall as a percent of average (>600%). Unfortunately, Eastern Arabia (UAE and Oman) will, apparently, miss the party and summer is still in control.
