Well, the first rain of the season in the mediterranean countries (see previous blog entry) was not widespread. Only Syria got meaningful rains (poor forecast by the GFS model). However, the city of Aleppo in Syria received very heavy rainfall from a thunderstorm on Sep 27. (rainfall around 150mm)

The coastal areas of Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria are forecasted to receive their first rain of the season as a 500mb low is predicted to bring cooler weather aloft and hence some rain in last few days of Sep 2008.

As of Sep 22, 2008, autumn has officially started and summer has ended. This is the start of the astronomical autumn. The meteorological autumn has already started on Sep 1, 2008.
