Since we have gone through around 40% of this winter which started in December 2009 and lasts till the end of February 2010 (meteorological winter). I have a few points to highlight: Precipitation: Late November and December were wetter than normal across many parts of the Arabian Peninsula, the Arabian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman. As explained in the previous post, a deep 500mb upper low moved across the UAE, resulting in a cold front that swept through the UAE on Jan 1st, 2010. While doing so, it resulted in some scaterred thunderstorms and hailstorms, passing by the the Arabian Gulf after affecting Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and parts of Saudi Arabia. Later, the storms affected Oman and Gulf of Oman. Highest rainfall was in Jais Mountain (Ras Al khaymah) with 35.8mm.
